No that’s not what you need when filing for an annulment in the Philippines. Since divorce is not allowed in this pre-dominantly catholic country, annulment is the only recourse for failed marriages. This process is so complicated and granted very seldomly, and one needs to come up with very serious reason/s why the marriage should be declared null and void, as if it never existed. Incidentally, the most common ground people use in their annulment cases is insanity. Well, nothing strange with that I guess. I mean, living in a marriage made from hell will surely drive you nuts!
Anyways, those three words in the title of this entry are what you need if you want to win a Nobel Prize, at least according to Gerhard Ertl, this year’s recipient of The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2007. This dude laid the foundations of modern surface chemistry pioneering precise experimental techniques important in the chemical industry like in production of artificial fertilizers, catalysators for clean exhaust and fuel cells.
I was listening on P3 radio a while ago and they broadcasted the telephone conversation with him when they called him up in his office in Germany. When asked in German what does it take to win a Nobel Prize, the 71 year old professor emeritus said you need the three Gs: Geld, Glück and Geduld. The german words for money, luck and patience.
Patience, I have. Luck comes to me every now and then.
Oh, Houston we got a problem!
